Job summary

AES Corporation seeks a Senior Substation Engineer to lead HV substation design and oversight for renewable projects in the Eastern US. You will supervise EPC teams, review designs for interconnection compliance, and coordinate with utilities and ISOs to ensure successful commissioning.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years in HV design, strong grid integration knowledge, and proven leadership in cross-functional settings. Occasional travel to project sites is required.

Qualifications

• B.S. Electrical Engineering with emphasis on Power Systems.
• PE Licensure is preferred.
• 7+ years of substation design experience (Physical or P&C).
• 2+ years of HV project engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee EPC contractor engineering design and construction for HV substations and lines (35kV-500kV).
• Establish and maintain relationships with HV contractors.
• Review EPC designs for interconnection requirements and standards.
• Review power system studies (load flows, harmonics, insulation coordination).
• Coordinate with interconnection providers for collector substations.
• Support substation commissioning with testing coordination.
