Job summary

The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) is seeking a Human Services Counselor III - F/C to provide counseling, social services, and discharge planning for residents with complex needs. The role requires independent judgment, collaboration across program sections, and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include completing psychosocial assessments, preparing summaries and directives, and representing the unit in meetings and hearings when applicable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of professional experience in developmental disabilities, mental health, counseling, guidance, social work, health or rehabilitative programs.
• Master's degree can substitute for one year of the required experience.
• US citizen or authorized alien worker; background screening is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide social services, counseling guidance, and discharge planning for individuals with acute or chronic mental disabilities.
• Complete psychosocial summaries, Baker Act summaries, Advance Directive documents and discharge planning records.
• Maintain professional relationships and participate in Recovery Team meetings.
• Attend trainings and perform related duties as required.
