Job summary

The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) is seeking a Rehabilitation Therapist – F/C to provide direct resident services within Rehabilitation Services. The role emphasizes psychiatric rehabilitation, illness management, and recovery for individuals served in a large mental health facility.

The ideal candidate will collaborate across sections, demonstrate independent judgment, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in allied health or related field required/preferred.
• Professional experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
• Knowledge of rehabilitation principles and documentation standards.
• US citizenship or work authorization as required.

Responsibilities

• Submit to a pre-employment medical examination; duties include lifting, pulling, and squatting.
• Provide direct resident services through psychiatric rehabilitation, treatment (substance abuse, anger management, competency restoration), and enrichment.
• Document progress and resident responses by completing progress notes per facility procedures.
• Conduct interviews and assessments, review records, and consult with recovery team members to identify service needs.
• Coordinate frequent program evaluations, evaluate outcomes, and participate in performance improvement initiatives.
• Maintain required training and provide mentorship for trainees, interns, and volunteers as directed.
• Perform other related work as required.
