Job summary

Smith Industries is seeking a Senior HSE Manager to lead the health, safety, and environmental program across shop and field operations in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. You will own the safety management system, oversee OSHA compliance, incidents, and training, and collaborate with foremen and department heads to cultivate a proactive safety culture.

The role requires guiding leadership in safety initiatives, updating policies, and ensuring regulatory alignment with ISNetworld and TCEQ

Qualifications

• 3 years HSE experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or oil and gas, including 2 years in a management role.
• Working knowledge of OSHA requirements, OSHA recordkeeping, and safety aspects of applicable industries.
• Experience with incident investigation, root cause analysis, and injury case management.
• Strong leadership, professional written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate employees to recognize unsafe work practices and adopt a safety-conscious attitude.
• Ability to facilitate group meetings and training.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
• Current driver’s license and insurable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Lead implementation of the safety management system; identify, track, and trend HSE indicators.
• Coach and advise senior leadership to develop a proactive safety culture and resolve safety and environmental issues.
• Research, propose, and implement safe work policies, practices, and equipment; update the HSE Manual and safety sections of the Employee Handbook.
• Conduct ongoing safety audits and work with foremen and management to maintain safe facilities and equipment.
• Pre-approve all work on used vessels, tanks, and equipment by confirming inspections and permits.
• Ensure qualified personnel and equipment for permit-required confined space and hot work.
• Conduct monthly safety meetings and weekly supervisor meetings; train personnel in safe practices.
• Investigate significant incidents to determine root causes and develop preventive measures; provide basic first aid.
• Manage OSHA recordkeeping, incident and injury management, and coordination with medical providers and workers' compensation claims personnel.
• File required reports with OSHA, TCEQ, and ISNetworld; maintain safety documentation.
