Job summary

New Mexico Department of Justice seeks a Lead HR Generalist to oversee compensation programs, recruitment, onboarding, payroll, and benefits administration for several divisions. The role coordinates with NM National Guard-related payroll actions and ensures compliance with employment laws.

You will manage day-to-day HR functions, provide guidance to managers, and communicate program status to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Experience with state personnel processes and procedures.
• Knowledge of SHARE system and HRIS tooling.
• Knowledge of public employer HR operations and payroll/benefits administration.
• Experience in recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes.
• Experience with employee relations and investigations.
• Experience with occupational and non-occupational leave management.
• Experience delivering HR-related training.
• Experience with occupational analysis and job classifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional HR processes including recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations.
• Coordinate payroll, benefits, and HR data accuracy for multiple programs.
• Oversee the Drug and Alcohol Program Coordinator duties and compliance.
• Manage an end-to-end hiring process for assigned divisions and programs.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws and performance management.
