Job summary

The Law Offices of the Public Defender in Santa Fe, NM seeks an HR Operations Supervisor to lead HR staff, enforce policies, and improve employee relations. Responsibilities include guiding HR transactions, investigations, and coordinating training while ensuring compliance with employment laws.

You will report to the HR leadership and support managers across the agency, with flexible telework options and a minimum 3 days per week in the office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years of direct HR supervisory experience.
• Employment eligibility to work in the U.S. is required; sponsorship not offered.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Collective Bargaining: not covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
• Preference may be given to multilingual applicants fluent in English and other languages.

Responsibilities

• Guide day-to-day activities of HR staff; approve transactions and write evaluations.
• Maintain HR SOPs and ensure smooth recruitment, onboarding, and payroll processes.
• Provide guidance on sensitive issues; administer accommodations and investigations as needed.
• Serve as contact for internal complaints and union grievances; draft responses.
• Research employment law and train managers on best employee relations practices.
• Coordinate HR staff training and supervise performance evaluations.
