Job summary

The New Mexico Corrections Department seeks a Lead Human Resources Generalist (NMCD/PNM #34799) to lead HR duties at a correctional facility, advising management and staff on payroll, benefits, leave, recruitment, and disciplinary actions.

Responsibilities include processing compensation actions, reviewing SPB rules, preparing bi-weekly reports, payroll verification, and serving as liaison between facility and Central Office HR.

Qualifications

• This role requires HR administration and payroll related responsibilities.
• Experience handling compensation actions and FLSA knowledge.
• Proficiency with SHARE HCM and recruitment/onboarding processes.
• Ability to manage confidential information and work with labor contracts.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive advice and assistance on compensation actions and HR programs while ensuring compliance with SPB rules, policies, and laws.
• Prepare bi-weekly reports for Central Office HR and facility management.
• Process disciplinary actions per NMCD policy and SPO board rules under management direction.
• Assist in budget reviews and ACA compliance as it pertains to HR.
• Serve as HR liaison between the facility and Central Office HR.
• Verify and approve bi-weekly payroll and manage requests for hires, transfers, FMLA, and parental leave; handle SHARE entries.
• Guide HR staff on assigned work products within the facility.
