Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, public administration, or related field.
• Minimum of five (5) years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination.
• Knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and leadership practices in recruitment, employment, and termination.
• Understanding of local, state, and federal laws and standards in public sector labor relations.
• Ability to maintain calm demeanor and handle difficult situations.
• Experience with computer software applications (Microsoft Office, HRIS systems, etc).
• Experience working under pressure and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage many tasks.

Responsibilities

• Develop expertise in HR focus areas (Operations, Compensation, Talent Acquisition, Training and Development, Labor Relations).
• Act as central HR contact for benefits, recruitment, employment, etc.
• Build trusted advisor relationships and counsel leadership on HR matters.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws including EEO.
• Foster proactive employee relations with advocacy and policy adherence.
• Coach leaders on performance, leadership concerns and disciplinary actions.
• Lead conflict resolution and investigations while balancing employee/leadership interests.
• Guide leadership through talent acquisition, job descriptions, and hiring approvals.
