Job summary

Great Lakes Water Authority seeks an experienced HR leader to oversee employee and labor relations across five bargaining units. You will coordinate with General Counsel, drive union negotiations, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations while maintaining internal equity in compensation decisions.

The role also involves investigations, conflict resolution, overseeing merit adjustments, and managing employee separations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in related field.
• Five years of management/operational HR experience in labor relations or HR operations.

Responsibilities

• Manage the employee and labor relations activities for non-union and union employees within five (5) bargaining units
• Establish and maintain relationships with GLWA leadership, employees and external partners as required
• Coordinate with General Counsel, outside consultants, and other agencies ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal regulations
• Manage the union negotiation process
• Conduct comprehensive unbiased investigations and formulate reasonable and effective conclusions
• Manage the merit pay and salary adjustment processes ensuring internal equity and recommend employee compensation changes
• Manage conflict resolution practices
• Manage and oversee employee separation hearings
• Review and ensure contracts and recommended amendments with vendors are processed through internal processes

Education

Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources management, legal or closely related field

Five (5) years of recent management and operational experience gained through progressively more responsible positions in an area of human resources, organizational development or employee and labor relations
