Job summary

Great Lakes Water Authority in Detroit, MI seeks a Human Resources Generalist to provide broad HR support across employee levels and serve as contact for inquiries related to labor relations, policy interpretation, and workplace issues.

Responsibilities include investigations, performance and progression enhancements, merit/pay processes, union negotiations, and maintaining HR records within the HRIS; strong communication is key to advising leadership and employees.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, organizational development, labor relations, psychology or a related discipline.
• Minimum of three years of HR experience with increasing responsibility in recruitment, labor relations, HR consulting, examinations and test development, and compensation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive unbiased investigations and formulate reasonable conclusions.
• Recommend and implement performance and employee progression enhancements.
• Assist with the merit pay process.
• Assist with negotiations with employees, unions, and management.
• Resolve conflicts, apply policies, and distribute information.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop employee development plans.
• Recommend employee compensation changes.
• Update performance, progression, and development plans in the HRIS.
• Communicate with employees and leadership to answer questions and address concerns.
