Job summary

The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) seeks a Senior HR Generalist to provide comprehensive HR and payroll support across the School of Education & Information Studies (SE&IS). You will manage staff appointments, onboarding, payroll transactions, and compliance, serving as a primary HR contact for SE&IS departments, research units, faculty and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training (Required)
• Advanced knowledge of University Personnel and Payroll policies, procedures, and organizational structure (Required)
• Demonstrated working knowledge of staff appointment processes, promotions, changes, and appointment limitations (Required)
• Superior writing and editing skills; professional emails and correspondence (Required)
• Ability to present information clearly to individuals and groups (Required)
• Ability to prioritize heavy workload and meet deadlines (Required)
• Ability to work independently with initiative and confidentiality (Required)
• Experience with UCLA systems UCPath, OFSR, CDW, People Admin (Preferred)
• Knowledge of health plans, leaves, and retirement plans (Preferred)
• Experience with unionized workforces (Required)

Responsibilities

• Administer full lifecycle of staff personnel actions: appointments, changes, separations, leaves.
• Advise on recruitment strategy, onboarding, payroll processes, and personnel administration.
• Ensure compliance with federal/state policies and UC system guidelines.
• Monitor workforce and payroll transactions; collaborate with Campus HR and相关 partners.
• Provide guidance on benefits eligibility and leave programs; support accommodation processes.
• Deliver clear, concise communications and training as needed to staff and managers.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle high workload with professionalism.
