Job summary

SMS Holdings Corporation seeks a senior HR leader to oversee HR strategy, employee relations, and culture for the MBTA account, guiding a workforce of around 400 across union and non-union populations. This high-impact, hands-on role partners closely with operations to ensure staffing stability, compliance, and strong recruiting results in a fast‑paced service environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of relevant HR leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 7+ years of progressive HR experience, including significant employee relations in a complex, service/hospitality business.
• Direct experience supporting unionized workforces.
• Proven success in high-volume recruiting and staffing environments.
• Experience supporting field-based or service-oriented operations (preferred).
• SHRM or HRCI certification required.

Responsibilities

• HR Leadership & Business Partnership with site and regional operations.
• Serve as primary HR partner to operations leadership.
• Align HR strategies with staffing, retention and performance goals.
• Guide managers on employee relations, discipline and workforce management.
• Escalate complex HR issues and drive resolution.
• Lead labor relations for unionized employees, including grievances and CBAs.
• Advise on contract compliance and risk mitigation with operations leaders.
• Build constructive relationships with union representatives.
• Support staffing levels with Talent Acquisition; forecast workforce needs.
• Partner with operations to meet staffing targets in a high-volume environment.
