Job summary

UTLX, a Marmon Holdings company backed by Berkshire Hathaway, seeks a Human Resources Manager to lead HR and labor relations at a unionized railcar repair facility. Based onsite five days a week, you will drive employee relations, talent acquisition, and workforce planning while ensuring regulatory compliance and a safety‑minded culture.

You will partner with plant leadership, investigate workplace issues, manage union relations, and guide recruitment, onboarding, and development across hourly

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in HR, business, or related field.
• 3–5 years of progressive HR experience in manufacturing/industrial environments.
• Ability to partner with frontline leaders and support an hourly workforce.
• Experience navigating union environments, contract administration, and labor relations.
• Knowledge of employment laws including FMLA and ADA.
• Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills.

Responsibilities

• Partner with plant leadership to drive employee and labor relations and HR strategy.
• Build relationships with employees, leaders, union reps, and community partners.
• Coach leaders to strengthen performance, engagement, and succession planning.
• Lead investigations, grievances, disciplinary actions, and labor relations matters.
• Administer collective bargaining agreements, job bidding, seniority, and recalls.
• Oversee recruiting, onboarding, retention, and workforce planning for all employees.
• Ensure compliance with employment laws, regulations, and safety requirements.
• Drive employee engagement, recognition, and culture-building initiatives.
• Analyze workforce metrics to identify trends and improve outcomes.
• Support operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.
