Job summary

Transdev North America, Inc. in Boston, MA seeks a Labor Relations Manager to partner with the General Manager and Director of Human Resources on labor relations initiatives for the Boston Public Schools contract.

You will lead grievance handling, arbitration support, and CBAs interpretation, ensuring compliance with laws and internal policies while collaborating with operations, safety, and outside counsel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, law, or a related field.
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree preferred.
• Two years of experience in labor relations, HR, legal, or business affairs in a unionized environment.
• Knowledge of labor and organization theories, principles, practices and techniques.
• Ability to understand negotiation and de-escalation principles.
• Knowledge of laws/regulations underpinning transit operations.
• Clear, professional communication with all levels of an organization.
• Working knowledge of Windows-based software.

Responsibilities

• Manage labor relations program with the General Manager.
• Research, prepare data for grievances, arbitration, negotiations, and complaints.
• Analyze CBAs to interpret contract terms and intents.
• Manage grievance process and provide responses per guidelines.
• Coordinate labor meetings, grievance and step hearings.
• Attend hearings, arbitrations, CBAs sessions as needed.
• Maintain grievance log and casefiles; ensure deadlines compliance.
• Recommend LR practices to the General Manager for the BPS property.
• Track labor issues and follow up to resolution.
• Handle union information requests and act as liaison.
• Prepare management reports, memos, and correspondence.
• Submit monthly client reports.
• Stay current on internal policies and regulations affecting HR/LR.
• Understand legal requirements and government reporting for HR/LR.
• Maintain library of CBAs and MOAs.
• Perform other HR-related duties and special projects.
