Job summary

The State of New Hampshire is seeking a Highway Maintainer III in Milford. You will operate and repair heavy highway equipment, supervise entry-level crews, and perform maintenance across diverse conditions.

Qualifications

• Equivalent combination of 1 year of education and experience after completion of high school.
• Valid CDL-A with no air brake restrictions.
• MVR must meet minimum standards as established by DOT.
• Pre-employment urinalysis drug screen per US DOT requirements.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs intermittently.
• Trainee option: CDL-B with potential to obtain CDL-A within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operates and troubleshoots complex highway maintenance equipment and vehicles.
• Maintains equipment; performs field adjustments and emergency repairs.
• Monitors winter road conditions and selects appropriate plowing and salting actions.
• Supervises and trains small crews and contractors to ensure safe, compliant work methods.
• Performs highway maintenance under adverse conditions with exposure to traffic and hazards.
• Travels varied terrain; performs heavy lifting up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Responds to winter maintenance and traffic emergencies 24/7 as needed.
