Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Highway/Roads Engineer to lead the detailed development of urban roadway design projects in Virginia. You will QA major transportation projects on interstate highways, and act as a technical expert with authority in your area.

Some project management and client interaction are expected, with supervision of a mid-to-large team. The role requires a PE license, a Bachelor's degree in engineering, and extensive experience in urban/rural interchange design, traffic management,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering and PE license required.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in roadway engineering design.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license recognized by the licensing board.
• Demonstrated leadership, communication skills and ability to work with various teams.
• Project management experience desirable.
• Experience should include urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, and CAD base alignment plans.
• Coordinated survey, grading, drainage and utilities; layout of site items is a plus.
• Active participation in employee-owned culture is a must.

Responsibilities

• Lead the detailed development of urban roadway design projects.
• Perform quality assurance checks on major transportation projects on interstate and state highway systems.
• Serve as a technical expert with recognized authority in an area of specialization.
• Assume some project management duties and interact with clients as needed.
• Supervise work of medium to large staff of professionals and technicians as needed.
• Perform other duties as needed.
