Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer in Vienna, VA to provide design oversight for roadway, lighting, signing, pavement marking, traffic signals and traffic management system design plans. You will supervise staff on medium to large projects, serve as project manager when needed, and apply ITS expertise to improve mobility and safety across urban and rural highways.

The role requires a PE license, 10+ years of ITS/traffic engineering, and proficiency with HCS, CORSIM, Synchro/SIM Traffic and

Qualifications

10+ years' experience in ITS and traffic engineering for urban and rural highways, major and minor interchanges and intersections
Professional Engineer (PE) license recognized by licensing board
Knowledge of state and federal transportation regulations
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Experience with HCS, CORSIM, Synchro/SIM Traffic and other software packages
Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to work in a team environment

Responsibilities

Provide design oversight for roadway, lighting, signing, pavement marking, traffic signals and traffic management system design plans
Assist in oversight of traffic control and sequencing plans during construction
Act as a technical expert resolving complex problems and guiding project development
Organize and supervise medium to large staff of professionals and technicians
Serve as project manager on larger projects when needed
Perform other duties as needed
