Job summary

HDR is seeking a Transportation Engineer (Highway/Roadway) to join our Transportation Business Group. You will help design highway projects, manage scopes and budgets, and coordinate with clients and subconsultants across the Mid-Atlantic region.

Preferred candidates hold a PE license, a Bachelor's degree, and hands-on CAD experience with Bentley, OpenRoads, Infraworks and Civil 3D. Excellent communication and leadership skills are essential in our employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required
• Experience with highways/roads CAD software and urban/rural interchanges design
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Active participant in employee-owned culture

Responsibilities

• Work as a key member of a highway/roadway design team for moderate to large projects and independently on smaller projects
• Prepare or oversee roadway/highway design work using local or AASHTO standards
• Prepare and oversee contract plans, specifications and estimates for roadway projects
• Assist in management of larger projects or manage smaller projects
• Prepare scopes, budgets and schedules
• Coordinate with clients and subconsultants, keep projects on schedule and within budget
• Write reports and technical memos; support junior staff
