Job summary

Florida Department of Transportation seeks a Senior Equipment Operator for the DeLand Maintenance District. You will coordinate and perform maintenance tasks with heavy equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency on roadways and bridges.

CDL instructional permit or license required; on-call duties may apply. The role involves supervising crew activities, maintaining records, and assisting in repairs and servicing of equipment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of math calculations and safety procedures for highway/bridge maintenance.
• Ability to operate and perform minor maintenance on heavy equipment and vehicles.
• Ability to read, understand and communicate job-related materials.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of heavy equipment (road graders, sewer cleaners, hydraulic excavators) once CDL is obtained.
• Coordinate and direct maintenance activities for the assigned crew; prepare daily paperwork and reports.
• Perform temporary traffic control and assist with materials, supplies, and scheduling.
