Job summary

City of DeLand seeks an Equipment Operator I to operate heavy automotive equipment and support Public Works/Storm Water maintenance. The role requires a CDL Class B with Tanker and Air Brake endorsements and a high school diploma or GED. You will drive, service, and operate various equipment while ensuring safety and efficiency.

Work includes maintenance of water, sewer, and airport systems, with supervision by a foreman. Exempt: No; Hours: 40 per week; Salary: $19.39 hourly.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CDL Class B license with Tanker and Air Brake Endorsements required.
• Experience operating medium trucks and heavy equipment preferred.
• Ability to work safely and follow traffic laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Operate a range of heavy equipment (mowers, loaders, bulldozers, graders, dump trucks, backhoes, etc.).
• Transport equipment by vehicle as needed.
• Service and operate medium or light equipment as directed.
• Work as a laborer when required and support water/sewer/airport maintenance.
• Assist in repairs and adjustments of equipment and systems.
