Job summary

The City of Deerfield Beach seeks a skilled Equipment Operator to operate light and heavy equipment across street, stormwater, and utility maintenance projects. You will perform routine maintenance, assist with facility construction, and may train teammates in proper procedures.

Work involves hazardous conditions; on-call duties may apply, with strong emphasis on safety and reliable equipment operation. High school diploma and a Class B CDL are required.

Qualifications

• High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
• Three (3) years of experience operating light duty construction and maintenance equipment.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class B state commercial driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.

Responsibilities

• Operates a variety of light and/or heavy equipment used in street, stormwater, maintenance and repair.
• Performs minor repairs and normal preventative maintenance on equipment and reports issues.
• Performs semi-skilled manual tasks using hand and power tools.
• Assists in routine and construction of utility facilities and city infrastructure as needed.
• May train crew members in safe procedures and equipment operation.
