Job summary

Qualifications

Requires two years of experience operating small/medium equipment and vehicles.
Must possess a valid Class “A” CDL Instructional Permit and obtain a Class “A” CDL within 10 months of appointment.
Ability to train others and operate a variety of heavy equipment.
Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather, environments and traffic conditions.

Responsibilities

Operate vehicles and large equipment such as road graders, sewer cleaners and hydraulic excavators in bridge and roadway maintenance.
Perform minor maintenance and servicing on equipment; check/add fluids, brakes, tire pressure, and clean equipment.
Coordinate, direct and document maintenance activity of the assigned crew; plan workloads and maintain records.
Train crew members in operating heavy equipment and temporary traffic control; assist with crew activity reports.
Perform temporary traffic control, rough carpentry, masonry and painting as needed.
