CommonSpirit Health in Central Minnesota is seeking an HIM Specialist to safeguard patient data, manage the end-to-end medical records lifecycle, and support clinical providers while upholding HIPAA and privacy standards.

You will oversee imaging, chart analysis, data integrity in the Master Patient Index, and collaborate with staff to ensure chart completion, with an emphasis on accuracy and confidentiality in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• 1–3 years of professional experience in Health Information Management (HIM) within acute care or equivalent, or progress toward RHIT/RHIA, or enrollment in healthcare-related studies with relevant work experience.
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems and HIM software applications.
• Strong knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, and medical record regulatory standards.
• Experience with EMR systems and HIM applications is required.

Responsabilités

• Document Imaging: Oversee imaging lifecycle including preparation, scanning, indexing and quality review.
• Chart Analysis: Audit medical records for completeness and address provider deficiencies.
• Data Integrity: Maintain accuracy of the Master Patient Index and resolve duplicates/mismatches.
• Workflow Support: Reconcile rejected orders and streamline chart completion with providers.
• Release of Information: Process ROI requests in compliance with privacy standards.
• Compliance Oversight: Ensure HIPAA and regulatory compliance in record handling.
