Job summary

CHI St. Gabriel’s Health in Central Minnesota is seeking an HIM Specialist to safeguard patient data and ensure integrity of health records through their life cycle.

You will manage end-to-end medical records processes, including imaging, chart analysis, data cleansing, and release of information, while maintaining HIPAA and regulatory standards.

The role requires 1–3 years HIM experience or RHIT/RHIA progress, EMR system expertise, and meticulous attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years HIM experience in acute care or similar setting
• Knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, and health information standards
• Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and HIM software

Responsibilities

• Document Imaging: manage imaging lifecycle including preparation, scanning, indexing, quality review
• Chart Analysis: audit records for completeness and resolve deficiencies
• Data Integrity: maintain Master Patient Index and resolve duplicates
• Workflow Support: collaborate with providers to reconcile rejected orders
• Release of Information: process ROI requests with privacy compliance
• Compliance Oversight: ensure adherence to regulatory standards and internal policies
