Job summary

UCSF Health is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead major capital projects across the San Francisco Bay Area. The role focuses on equipment planning, FF&E, procurement, activation, occupancy, and closeout, coordinating diverse teams including architects, engineers, vendors, IT, and clinical staff.

You will manage budgets, schedules, and risk, ensuring projects meet safety and regulatory standards while maintaining occupancy readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 3–5 years of experience managing capital projects.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in managing construction or renovation projects, preferably in hospital or clinical environments.
• Advanced knowledge of building codes and construction practices, with California focus.
• Advanced project management skills to handle highly complex projects and components.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication, including negotiation.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple capital projects ranging from $50,000 to $500 million, ensuring schedule, budget, quality, and operational readiness.
• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams (architects, engineers, contractors, vendors, IT, clinical users).
• Develop and manage equipment budgets, procurement plans, activation, occupancy, and closeout.
• Review design documents for equipment infrastructure, utilities, infection prevention, and life safety.
• Represent UCSF Health as owner’s representative and support new construction, expansions, and renovations.
• Maintain schedules, budgets, forecasts, procurement records, and reporting in PM systems.
• Apply LEAN practices to improve project delivery and foster collaboration across teams.
