Job summary

Axon is seeking a Principal Hardware Systems Architect to own system architecture across electrical, RF, mechanical, thermal, and power domains. You will partner with EE, RF, SW, and ME leads to align system requirements and drive cross-functional design decisions.

As a founding leader within the Axon 911 hardware team, you will define and drive the technical standards, architecture, and engineering processes that shape how our hardware is designed, validated, and scaled to mass production.

Qualifications

• 10+ years hardware engineering experience across multiple domains.
• Proven system architecture ownership for complex hardware.
• Experience delivering battery-powered hardware from concept to mass production.
• Expertise in RF/antenna integration, power architecture, and thermal management.
• Familiar with hardware design, simulation, testing, and lifecycle tools.
• Ability to communicate risk and decisions to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Own system architecture and cross-disciplinary design decisions.
• Lead design reviews and cross-functional system reviews.
• Define requirements, validation plans, and traceability from PRD to V&V.
• Collaborate with ODM/JDM and contract manufacturers for production readiness.
• Plan verification strategies and mitigate design risks.
