Job summary

Axon is seeking a Principal Hardware Systems Architect to own system architecture across electrical, RF, mechanical, thermal, and power domains. You will define standards, drive engineering processes, and guide cross-functional decisions to produce production‑ready hardware.

You will partner with EE, RF, SW, and ME leads to define requirements, manage tradeoffs, and ensure cohesive subsystem integration from concept to mass production.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in hardware engineering with two or more engineering domains
• Experience owning system architecture for complex hardware
• Track record of taking battery-powered hardware to mass production
• Experience with RF/antenna integration, power, and thermal management
• Experience with system requirements and validation planning

Responsibilities

• Develop system architecture considering electrical, RF, mechanical, and software interfaces
• Create block diagrams and interaction diagrams to guide implementation
• Analyze power, thermal, and computational budgets and balance performance, size, and cost
• Lead cross-functional design reviews and drive stakeholder alignment
• Own system-level verification and validation strategy and mitigate risks
• Collaborate with ODM/JDM and manufacturing teams for production readiness
• Communicate technical risk to senior leadership
