Job summary

Axon is seeking a Principal Hardware Systems Architect to own system architecture across electrical, RF, mechanical, thermal, and power domains, guiding design decisions for mass-produced hardware. You will drive requirements, verification plans, and cross-functional reviews in a fast-growing team at Axon 911 hardware.

You will collaborate with EE, RF, ME, and SW leads to ensure production-ready systems, manage risks, and define standards while supporting certification across U.S.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hardware engineering experience.
• Deep experience across RF/antenna integration, power architecture, thermal management, EMI/EMC, shielding, enclosure design.
• Experience owning system architecture and cross-disciplinary technical decisions for complex hardware.
• Experience working with ODM/JDM or contract manufacturing partners.
• Familiarity with hardware design, simulation, testing, and lifecycle tools such as Altium/Cadence/SolidWorks/Creo/NX.
• Strong ability to communicate technical risk to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Own system architecture across electrical, RF, mechanical, thermal, and power domains.
• Build system architectures, block diagrams, and interaction diagrams to guide implementation.
• Analyze power, thermal, and computational budgets and balance performance, size and cost.
• Lead concept studies with internal and external teams and present outcomes and recommendations.
• Write and vet system requirements with clear, testable design targets; manage traceability.
• Simulate and estimate subsystem capability against requirements; review product requirements.
• Lead cross-discipline design reviews and organize cross-functional system reviews.
• Own the system-level verification and validation strategy and mitigate risks.
• Partner with ODM/JDM and manufacturing teams on DFM/DFA and production readiness.
