Job summary

Collins Aerospace in the Boston area is seeking a Principal Hardware Engineering Lead to drive the design, development, and deployment of protected communication and precision navigation hardware. This senior role demands deep hardware expertise and proven leadership.

You will mentor engineers, coordinate with program management, finance, software, and test teams, ensure EVMS and security requirements, and stay ahead of industry trends to deliver robust, secure solutions for complex defense

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years in hardware engineering with 3+ years in lead/CAM roles.
• Experience leading hardware development from concept to production.
• Strong RF/microwave, electronics packaging, and mechanical design knowledge.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
• EVMS experience on externally reported programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead hardware design and development for protected communication and precision navigation systems.
• Collaborate with program management, finance, chief engineering, software, systems, and test teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Oversee hardware development lifecycle from concept through production and deployment.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Oversee testing and validation to ensure standards and customer specs.
• Interface with customers to gather requirements and provide updates.
