Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Greenville, SC is seeking a Senior System Protection Engineer to lead protection philosophy development, relay settings, and power system studies for transmission and substation projects.

You will configure microprocessor relays with SEL AcSELerator and EnerVista, manage relay data in Powerbase, review P&C drawings, perform fault studies and relay coordination, and support commissioning with field teams.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent.
• 7+ years in system protection engineering for transmission/substation projects.
• Experience with protection studies, relay coordination, and fault analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and application of protection philosophies and relay settings.
• Perform system protection studies (short-circuit, coordination, time-current curves).
• Configure and troubleshoot microprocessor relays using vendor software (SEL AcSELerator, EnerVista).
• Use Powerbase to manage relay records and align settings with standards.
• Review P&C drawings (one-lines, three-lines, wiring diagrams) for accuracy.
• Support commissioning, field questions, RFIs, and issue resolution during construction.
