Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University is seeking a Sr. Grants & Contracts Analyst to provide professional level sponsored funds management for most tasks, focusing on pre-award and post-award functions such as proposal prep, submission, budgeting, accounts, invoicing and closeouts.

The role handles complex grants/contracts and supports compliance with federal and sponsor guidelines, working with faculty, ORA and central offices to ensure timely, accurate award management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Four years of related experience in sponsored research and/or financial positions.
• Substitution rules per JHU equivalency formula may apply.
• Completion of the Research Administration Training Program equals two years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and direct complex award management activities including monitoring and managing accounts, audits, evaluations and reporting.
• Partner with faculty and budget staff and ORA for planning and development of submissions to federal agencies, private foundations, and companies.
• Ensure compliance with institutional pre-award policies and sponsor guidelines.
• Review proposals for accuracy before submission.
• Prepare timely budgets for PI review.
• Serve as liaison between research units, central offices and funding agencies.
• Review budgets and justifications for completeness.
• Provide groundwork for subcontract negotiations.
• Ensure compliance with sponsor guidelines and internal protocols.
• Maintain updates on current awards with regular audits and PI reports.
• Manage post-award processes including award setup, account setup verification, and staffing setup.
• Distribute budgets, perform account reconciliation, set up e-forms, track effort, manage cost transfers, and finalize subcontract paperwork.
• Assist with closeouts as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
