Job summary

NewGen Technologies is seeking a Government Network Operations Center (GNOC) Tier II Network Technician to support the client’s data communications systems with focused incident response and rapid remediation as part of a 24x7 network operations team.

The role emphasizes remote support from the GNOC for LAN/WAN devices, VLAN configuration, and cross-layer fault isolation. Experience with Cisco/Juniper/Brocade/Foundry OS and tools like Visio and ServiceNow is highly valued.

Qualifications

10 years of combined experience as described (education + work history) required.
DoD 8140 IAT Level 2 compliance required.
Familiarity with Layer 3 protocols such as OSPF, BGP, VRRP, HSRP, MPLS, GRE.

Responsibilities

From the GNOC location the Tier 2 network technician will leverage device CLI to remotely support installation and maintenance of LAN/WAN devices.
Respond to and resolve incident tickets.
Configure and troubleshoot VLANs (layer 2).
Troubleshoot layer 3 routing across the enterprise network.
Evaluate new network technologies and provide recommendations to the network architecture team.
Use network tools such as Microfocus and Riverbed to identify events and isolate impact.
