Job summary

nVent seeks a seasoned Trade Compliance Leader to guide our global program across import/export, sanctions, and related regulatory matters. You will translate laws into scalable processes, lead a high-performing team, and partner across functions to embed compliance into business decisions.

The role emphasizes risk assessment, training, and conducting due diligence for acquisitions and new markets, with a focus on measurable program improvements and governance.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor with active law license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 8+ years of international trade compliance experience in a global organization.
• Experience supporting manufacturing, engineering, technology, or complex global supply chains.
• Experience interacting with customs authorities and government agencies.
• Knowledge of global trade laws and regulations (CBP, BIS, OFAC, DDTC).
• Strong executive communication and change-management skills; ability to influence cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of government procurement and Buy America Act (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Lead nVent's global trade compliance program, including strategy, governance, risk assessments, policies, procedures, controls, and continuous improvement.
• Provide legal advice and operational guidance for the global trade compliance program to translate laws into practical business processes.
• Assess impact of import/export, sanctions, and regulatory developments and implement changes.
• Lead and resource a high-performing global trade compliance team.
• Embed trade compliance requirements into business processes and systems.
• Oversee risk-based training and communications to raise awareness and address higher-risk activities by country/region/role.
• Establish controls for restricted-party screening, sanctions, and end-use/end-user restrictions.
• Direct due diligence and integration for acquisitions, divestitures, new products/markets/changes.
• Manage government inquiries, audits, investigations, disclosures, and remediation actions.
• Develop analytics and reporting to measure program effectiveness and communicate risk to leadership.
