Qualifications

• Juris Doctor with active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 8+ years of international trade compliance experience within a global organization.
• Experience supporting manufacturing, engineering, technology, or other complex global supply-chain operations.
• Experience interacting with customs authorities and government agencies, including handling investigations, disclosures, audits, remediation.
• Expert knowledge of global trade laws and regulations including CBP, BIS, OFAC, DDTC or similar agencies.
• Strong knowledge of global import/export compliance across US, LATAM, EU, EMEA/I, APAC.
• Strong executive communication and change-management skills, with ability to influence cross-functional teams.
• Ability to translate complex trade laws into scalable business controls.
• Knowledge of Build America, Buy America Act (BABA) preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead nVent’s global trade compliance program, including strategy, governance, risk assessments, and controls.
• Provide legal advice and operational guidance translating laws into standardized processes.
• Assess regulatory developments and lead timely implementation of changes.
• Develop and resource a high-performing global trade compliance team.
• Embed trade compliance requirements into business processes and systems.
• Oversee risk-based training and communications across regions and roles.
• Establish controls for screening, sanctions, embargoes, and end-use restrictions.
• Direct due diligence for acquisitions, divestitures, new products, and new markets.
• Manage government inquiries, audits, disclosures, and remediation actions.
• Develop analytics and reporting to evaluate program effectiveness and risks.
