Job summary

nVent, Minneapolis-based, seeks a Senior Counsel to lead the global trade compliance program, translating complex trade laws into scalable controls. You will advise on regulatory changes and guide cross-functional teams to strengthen governance and risk management.

Ideal candidates hold a JD and 8+ years in international trade compliance, with leadership experience in a manufacturing or supply-chain context. Strong strategic thinking and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of international trade compliance experience within a global organization.
• Experience leading a global team and program.
• Experience with manufacturing, engineering, technology, or other complex global supply-chain operations.
• Experience interacting with customs authorities and government agencies.
• Expert knowledge of global trade laws and regulations including CBP, BIS, OFAC, DDTC.
• Strong knowledge of Global import/export compliance regulations (US, LATAM, EU, EMEA, APAC).
• Strong executive communication and change-management skills with cross-functional influence.

Responsibilities

• Lead global trade compliance program strategy, governance, risk assessments, policies and controls.
• Provide legal advice and operational guidance translating laws into practical processes.
• Assess regulatory developments and implement required changes across the business.
• Lead and develop a high-performing global trade compliance team.
• Embed compliance requirements into business processes and systems.
• Oversee training and communications to increase governance awareness.
• Establish controls for screening, sanctions, embargoes and end-use restrictions.
• Manage due diligence for acquisitions, new products, and market entries.
