Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a field service leader to manage on-site GIS installation, testing, and commissioning across the United States. You will coordinate field execution at live substations, balancing safety, quality, and schedule while collaborating with customers, subcontractors, and project teams.

Minimum 10 years in field service or construction management for high voltage equipment (69kV-550kV) and a technical certificate or associate degree in electrical or mechanical fields are

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience in field service or construction management, preferably with substation or high voltage equipment (69kV-550kV).
• Technical certificate or associate degree in an electrical or mechanical related field, or a combination of education and directly applicable experience.
• Experience supervising erection and testing activities for high voltage substations and equipment.
• Knowledge of safety procedures for working in energized, high voltage substations.
• Valid vehicle operator’s permit and OSHA 10 training certification (or ability to acquire).

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and manage on-site installation, testing, and commissioning of High Voltage GIS equipment (69kV-550kV).
• Serve as Hitachi Energy’s on-site representative to customers, subcontractors, inspectors, and local stakeholders.
• Supervise field teams and subcontractors to support quality, productivity, schedule, and safe work execution.
• Oversee adherence to drawings, specifications, quality standards, and project requirements.
• Perform and document field testing, including SF6 leak detection, gas analysis, timing, power factor, and contact resistance testing.
• Conduct inspections to determine maintenance needs and required repairs, supporting resource planning decisions.
• Plan and participate in on-site progress meetings and coordinate daily field activities.
• Prepare clear, accurate field documentation, reports, and project records.
• Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
