Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Geotechnical/Civil Engineer to work on complex infrastructure projects including dams, reservoirs, levees, foundations and geo-environmental challenges. You will lead designs from investigation to delivery, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary teams.

Based in a major US hub or project office, you will contribute to technical leadership, publish papers, and help win proposals while expanding your visibility in the industry.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical, Civil, Mining or Geologic Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional engineering (PE) license.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; frequency depends on duties and workload.

Responsibilities

• With general direction, creates excavation, dewatering, shallow/deep foundations, dams/reservoirs/levees, geo-environmental projects.
• Engineering designs of basic to high complexity to meet client project requirements.
• Reviews draft designs for compliance with regulations and signs off on completed designs.
• Ensures that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.
• Performs site reviews and studies to ensure designs align with location specifications.
• Updates design requirements as necessary.
• Performs soil sampling analyses and modeling.
• Mentors more junior staff and develops them for future growth.
