Job summary

Rye Street Tavern in Baltimore is seeking a General Manager to lead a 150+ team across lunch, dinner, brunch, and private events at Overlook. You will drive guest experience, operations, and financial performance in a large, multi-venue setting on the water.

The role requires 5+ years as a restaurant GM in a high-volume environment with P&L ownership and strong leadership. Relocation assistance is available; a competitive salary is offered with quarterly bonus potential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience as a restaurant General Manager.
• Experience in a large high-volume restaurant (capacity of 400+ seats, 120+ employees, and annual sales of $9M+)
• Experience running private events or banquets for large groups is a strong plus
• Proven ability to uphold high standards and deliver elevated guest service shift after shift
• Strong financial acumen: P&L ownership, forecasting, scheduling, labor management, and cost control
• Great verbal and written communication skills
• Provides guests with exceptional service and value
• Disciplined and firm about standards of performance, yet fair and personable in developing employees

Responsibilities

• Set the engaging hospitality tone and energy that defines Baltimore's premier waterfront dining and social destination
• Set and maintain guest service standards
• Lead a large, multi-layered FOH operation across lunch, dinner, brunch, and private events
• Interview, hire, train, schedule and develop front of the house (FOH) managers and employees
• Work the floor hands-on - greet guests, process checks, and investigate and resolve customer complaints in real time
• Interact with guests in a genuine and friendly manner to establish a personal, professional rapport with regulars and first-time visitors alike
• Develop and manage the annual financial plan for the restaurant - sales, labor, cost of goods, controllables, and operating income
• Complete performance reviews and assign developmental goals for dining room managers and employees based on observed performance
• Lead daily menu class and ensure the team is fluent in every dish, ingredient, and beverage
• Direct employees in safety, health, and sanitation standards
• Lead monthly inventory in close partnership with the culinary team
• Set service goals and hold the team accountable, supported by clear agendas and follow-through in manager and departmental meetings
• Partner closely with the Executive Chef on menu planning, cost control, and seamless FOH/BOH execution
