Job summary

The Travelers Indemnity Company in Morristown, NJ is seeking an experienced General Liability Bodily Injury/Property Damage claims professional. You will investigate, evaluate, reserve, negotiate and resolve complex claims with a focus on quality handling and regulatory compliance.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years of bodily injury litigation experience, with independent decision-making, strong negotiation skills and advanced knowledge of coverage and damages.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required; 4 years bodily injury litigation claim handling.
• Advanced level knowledge in coverage, liability and damages analysis; thorough understanding of litigation process.
• Ability to make independent decisions on most assigned cases without supervisor involvement.

Responsibilities

• Directly handles assigned severity claims.
• Provides quality customer service and ensures file quality and timely coverage analysis and communication with insured.
• Consults with Manager on use of Claim Coverage Counsel as needed.
• Investigates each claim with stakeholders to determine liability, damages and contribution potential.
• Identifies and directs internal/external resources for activities required for effective evaluation.
• Maintains claim files and documents activities per procedures.
• Establishes indemnity and expense reserves.
• Negotiates disposition of claims with insureds and claimants or their legal representatives.
• Manages litigated claims by developing litigation plans with staff or panel counsel.
• Attends depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials as needed.
• Keeps stakeholders updated with new facts and implications for liability and settlement options.
• Shares knowledge to improve bench strength and quality of results.
