Job summary

Devsu is seeking an experienced forward-deployed AI engineer to join a lean, expert AI team embedded with portfolio companies. You will assess, design, build, and hand off high-impact AI solutions rapidly, with a focus on scalable reference architectures and secure, observable systems.

You’ll work closely with an AI product manager in a small pod, delivering production-grade results and enabling portcos to scale AI capabilities after handoff.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software development experience with a deep understanding of full-stack architectures.
• Hands-on experience shipping production AI/ML systems, including generative/agentic AI.
• Proficiency with agentic tooling and architectures: single- and multi-agent workflows, supervisor/worker patterns, memory management, orchestration, and safe action execution.

Responsibilities

• Assess AI feasibility during diligence and set technical direction for data products, retrieval pipelines, model orchestration, agentic workflows, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
• Design and build LLM workflows, retrieval systems, and agentic applications against enterprise data and infrastructure.
• Define secure, scalable reference architectures across cloud and AI platform services as needed.
• Establish evaluation and observability standards, including tests, evals, tracing, and latency/cost monitoring.
• Build human-in-the-loop controls and sound data/security practices by default.
• Develop prototypes that evolve into production systems and transfer knowledge to portfolio company teams.
• Evaluate emerging models/frameworks and provide practical recommendations on adoption.
