Job summary

Ad Hoc is a technology company delivering digital services for government clients. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Front End/Back End) to contribute across the full stack in a remote, nationwide setup. You will work with federal civilian projects and help scale critical services.

You’ll lead technical initiatives, mentor peers, and collaborate with stakeholders across agencies like NASA and GSA to ensure robust software that meets accessibility standards and security requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Expert-level knowledge with Spring Boot 4 framework.
• Strong working knowledge of containerized microservices and AWS services.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code using Terraform.
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs with OpenAPI specifications.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines in GitLab and Git.
• Ability to apply WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates expertise, accountability, and ownership of contributions to an application code base.
• Maintains a high-level understanding of adjacent technical areas to coordinate integration.
• Diagnoses and resolves issues and shares lessons for improvements.
• Mentors and assists junior engineers in skill development.
• Communicates technical issues and decisions effectively with team and clients.
• Participates in technical interviews for new candidates.
• Leads small or temporary projects and teams when needed.
• Presents design documents and diagrams to clients and engineers.
