Scribd, Inc. in San Francisco is hiring a Senior Frontend Engineer to drive the Web Modernization program and build the frontend foundations for the next generation of web product experiences.

You will lead major modernization workstreams, migrate complex legacy apps into a modern Microfrontend ecosystem, and create repeatable patterns and shared foundations for other teams. Strong frontend ownership and collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional frontend software engineering experience.
• Deep experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and React.
• Hands-on experience with Next.js or similar modern web frameworks.
• Familiarity with Microfrontend architectures, monorepos, or shared frontend platforms.
• Strong understanding of web performance, bundling, and optimization techniques.
• Experience collaborating with backend and platform teams to define clean integration patterns.
• Comfort operating in environments with high traffic, high visibility, and real user impact.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; thrives in a remote, documentation-driven culture.
• Highly collaborative: partners closely with product, design, and backend to deliver end-to-end features.

Responsibilities

• Lead major modernization workstreams migrating legacy apps to a Microfrontend ecosystem.
• Create repeatable migration patterns and shared foundations for teams.
• Ship production-critical frontend code with high performance and UX impact.
• Define patterns and boundaries for other teams to reuse.
• Partner cross-functionally with product and platform teams for durable architecture.
• After modernization, build product features to support publishers uploading and readers consuming documents.
