Job summary

Osmo, a digital olfaction company in Elizabeth, NJ, is building a QC function and seeking a senior technician to make real-time accept/reject calls on raw materials and finished fragrances. You will leverage sensory judgment, maintain lab instrumentation, and ensure audit-ready records while mentoring junior staff.

Your role requires on-site presence five days a week, strong documentation, and collaboration with Purchasing, Warehouse, and Fragrance Development to optimize sample flow and testing

Qualifications

• Fragrance industry experience or exposure required; adjacent industries don’t qualify.
• Make high-frequency accept/reject calls independently without over-escalating routine judgments.
• Trained nose with sensory and olfactive evaluation for fragrance materials.
• Hands-on lab instrumentation experience; GC/GCMS familiarity is a plus.
• Strong documentation habits.
• Able to cover QC decisions in the Manager’s absence.
• Technical degree preferred (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering) or equivalent lab experience.
• On-site in Elizabeth, NJ, five days a week.

Responsibilities

• Judge incoming raw material results from automated testing; decide if out-of-spec is a real defect vs variation.
• Apply olfactive judgment to evaluate raw materials and finished goods.
• Run triangulation testing on outgoing product to confirm match to prior batches.
• Make accept/reject calls in real time; escalate only genuinely ambiguous cases.
• Cover QC sign-off when QC Manager is unavailable to keep flow moving.
• Maintain and run lab instrumentation (GC/MS, photosampler, flash point testing, colorimeters).
• Maintain audit-ready lab records: test logs, certificates of analysis, equipment records.
• Mentor QC Tech staff on fragrance-specific testing and olfactive judgment.
• Partner with Purchasing, Warehouse, Shipping/Receiving, and Fragrance Development on sample flow.
