Job summary

Osmo is seeking a QC Technician to join our Elizabeth, NJ lab, responsible for day-to-day quality judgments on raw materials and finished fragrances. You will perform sensory testing, oversee instrumental analyses, and support QC decisions in a fast-paced environment, ensuring smooth product flow and accurate records.

You will work on-site five days weekly, apply olfactory judgment, and mentor junior staff while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet turnaround goals.

Qualifications

• Fragrance industry experience or exposure required.
• Comfortable making high-frequency accept/reject calls independently.
• Trained nose and sensory evaluation for fragrance materials and goods.
• Strong documentation habits and lab records.
• On-site in Elizabeth, NJ, 5 days a week.

Responsibilities

• Judge incoming raw material results from automated testing and decide if out-of-spec is a defect or variation.
• Apply olfactive judgment to evaluate raw materials and finished goods.
• Run triangulation testing on outgoing product to confirm batch matches.
• Make real-time accept/reject calls, escalating only genuinely ambiguous cases to QC Manager.
• Cover QC sign-off when QC Manager is unavailable to keep finished-goods flow moving.
• Maintain and run lab instrumentation (GC/MS, photosampler, flash point testing, colorimeters) including calibration checks.
• Maintain audit-ready lab records: test logs, certificates of analysis, and equipment records.
• Mentor QC staff on fragrance testing and olfactive judgment.
• Collaborate with Purchasing, Warehouse, Shipping/Receiving, and Fragrance Development on sample flow and testing turnaround.
