Job summary

Dechert LLP in Charlotte, NC seeks a Senior Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis to own complex models and deliver executive-ready insights. You will lead forecasting, revenue and cost analyses, and strategic scenario modeling while partnering with BI and finance teams to translate data into actionable business recommendations.

The role requires 7+ years in FP&A within professional services, advanced Excel modeling, and strong presentation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, IS, or STEM required; MBA preferred.
• 7+ years in FP&A in professional services.
• Strong foundation in forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, profitability, scenario modeling, cash flow and executive reporting.
• Advanced Excel and financial modeling; ability to explain complex models.
• Strong PowerPoint and executive presentation skills for leadership materials.
• Experience with large, complex data sets; familiarity with SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Python, SSMS, Elite, Aderant or similar BI/financial systems.

Responsibilities

• Independently build, maintain, and enhance complex financial models for revenue forecasting, cost analysis, cash flow, and scenario modeling.
• Develop revenue forecasts considering historical trends, billing patterns, staff assumptions, and practice group dynamics.
• Support growth analyses including revenue, compensation, staffing, expenses, profitability, and cash flow impact.
• Prepare executive-ready analyses and presentations for firm leadership and administrative teams.
• Analyze firm performance drivers: hours, rates, realization, leverage, client profitability, and market trends.
• Collaborate with BI and finance colleagues to leverage data sources, dashboards, and reporting tools.
• Translate data into concise insights to support planning, pricing, staffing, and strategic decisions.
• Conduct detailed expense, headcount, and operating cost analyses for budgets and forecasts.
• Assist with annual budget, long-range planning, and leadership-facing materials.
• Respond to ad hoc requests with clear framing, data, and insights.
• Benchmark performance against internal and external data to identify risks and opportunities.
• Collaborate in a flat team environment, contributing hands-on analytical capacity.
