Job summary

Delta Dental Ins. in Oakland, CA is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst - Federal to support financial planning, reporting, forecasting, and unit economics for the Federal Government Programs portfolio in a regulated environment.

The role partners with cross‑functional teams to analyze membership, revenue, expenses, and PMPM profitability, while guiding pricing, bids, and contract management activities. Experience in healthcare or government contracting is highly valued.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of progressive experience in financial planning & analysis.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of ERP and Planning applications (Oracle/Hyperion, SAP, IBM Cognos).
• Understanding of basic accounting concepts and principles.
• Ability to coordinate work across groups and levels.
• MS Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
• Knowledge of health insurance industry desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead budgeting, forecasting and planning with business owners.
• Deliver monthly financial performance reporting and variance analysis.
• Perform high‑impact analysis to drive strategic decisions.
• Manage cost allocations, profitability analysis, scenario analysis and rate reviews.
• Develop and maintain complex financial models.
• Identify opportunities and drive process improvements.
• Mentor junior team members and oversee their work.
• Improve financial acumen across enterprise partners.
• Support analysis of key drivers affecting outcomes.
• Interpret data to inform business decisions for partners.
