Job summary

Databricks seeks a Sr. Forward Deployed Engineer to own architecture and deliver end-to-end data & AI solutions on the Databricks platform.

You will lead design decisions, work with customers to implement production-grade reference architectures, data ingestion, and ML/AI model integration while traveling to client sites as needed. The role combines engineering depth with business impact, requires strong coding in Python/Scala/JS, and deep cloud and Spark expertise.

Qualifications

• 6+ years experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.
• Comfortable writing code in either Python, Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern frameworks.
• Working knowledge of two or more Cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) with expertise in at least one.
• Deep experience with distributed computing with Apache Spark and knowledge of Spark runtime internals.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments.
• Working knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs.
• Design and deployment of performant production end-to-end data architectures combining data pipelines, ML/AI models, and user-facing interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Lead impactful customer technical projects by delivering production-grade systems, designing and building reference architectures, custom applications and data ingestion and ML/AI model integration.
• Guide strategic customers as they implement big data projects including end-to-end design, build and deployment of AI applications.
• Embed with customer teams, engaging with stakeholders from ICs to executives to understand challenges and deliver impact.
• Lead architecture and design decisions to ensure secure, scalable solutions.
• Collaborate with Databricks teams to deliver engagement components and gather feedback for product improvements.
• Travel to customers ~20% of time.
