Job summary

Amazon Web Services is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer II to embed with a strategic enterprise customer in New York. You will design, build and run AI-powered production systems, partnering with customer engineers to deliver end-to-end AI workstreams.

You will own production delivery from requirements through deployment, mentor teammates, and accelerate AI adoption while navigating travel requirements and security standards.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Experience in a highly agile environment.
• Experience with agentic and spec-driven development (developing AI agents a plus).
• Experience with AI tools: eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering.
• US government security clearance of top secret or above.

Responsibilities

• Embed within customer engineering teams. Understand customer value and translate requirements into technical designs; travel 30–50%.
• Build production AI applications powering AI and agentic workflows; optimize latency, reliability, and cost.
• Own production for your workstream from scoping to deployment; troubleshoot production incidents.
• Mentor and uplift; provide feedback in code reviews and train new team members.
• Accelerate customer adoption; codify reusable patterns and accelerators for future deployments.
