Job summary

Amazon Web Services, Inc. seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer II to embed inside an enterprise customer and independently design, build, deploy, and run AI-powered production systems with the customer's engineering team.

You will own features across the full software lifecycle, mentor teammates, and accelerate customer adoption by codifying reusable patterns and accelerators. A TS/SCI clearance is required, with 30–50% travel expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• Current, active TS/SCI US Government Security Clearance
• Experience communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• Experience in a highly agile environment
• Experience with agentic and spec-driven development (developing AI agents a plus)
• Experience with AI tools: eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering
• US government security clearance of top secret or above

Responsibilities

• Embed within customer engineering teams. Translate customer requirements into technical designs for AI-enabled production systems.
• Build production AI applications powering AI and agentic workflows; optimize latency, reliability, and cost.
• Own production for your workstream; manage lifecycle from design to maintenance and incident resolution.
• Mentor and uplift; coach others on producing high-quality code.
• Accelerate customer adoption by codifying reusable patterns and accelerators.
