Job summary

Amazon Web Services, Inc. seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer II to embed with enterprise customers, designing, building, deploying, and running AI-powered production systems alongside customer engineers.

You will own production delivery across the full software lifecycle, mentor peers, and drive measurable outcomes while traveling 30–50% to customer sites to accelerate AI adoption and integration of models, data sources, and APIs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years in an Agile, startup, or rapidly scaling environment.
• Experience communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience with agentic and spec-driven development (AI agents a plus).
• Experience with AI tools: eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering.

Responsibilities

• Embed within customer engineering teams and understand business value of the systems you build.
• Translate customer requirements into technical designs for AI-enabled production systems.
• Build production AI applications powering AI workflows, data integrations, and orchestration layers.
• Own production for your workstream across the full software lifecycle: scoping, design, code, testing, deployment, operations, maintenance.
• Mentor and uplift team members through code reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Accelerate customer adoption by codifying reusable patterns and accelerators.
